Join the SLPOA Wildflower Hike at Onion Ridge
Sunday June 26, 9 – 11:30 am
Meet at the intersection of Beacon and Soda Springs Roads
The wildflowers on Onion Ridge are at their peak! Join Ann Reisenauer and Gale Rankin on a 3-mile round trip hike to Onion Ridge (aka Forest Service Ridge). You’ll walk through a meadow filled with Mule’s ears, then climb a short but very steep pitch to get to the top of the ridge. We’ll take it slow.
You’ll see a variety of flowers on the ridge including pink star onion, red paintbrush, sulfur buckwheat and blue larkspur. Bring your camera, water, bug spray and a hat. Wear sturdy shoes for climbing to the ridge. The hike is not suitable for young children.
To help you identify the flowers, you’ll get a free copy of the Donner Summit Wildflower Guide (thanks to Linda Cashion, George Lamson and SLPOA).
Please join us for a Zoom Meeting on June 28 from 4 to 5:30 pm for a special program on Cameras for Early Fire Detection at Serene Lakes.
This session will also be recorded and shared with SLPOA members.
