Sample Letter to Placer County Planning
In order to be kept apprised of the various comment periods and public inspection files available, it is critical that you let Placer County know of your interest in the Foster/Syme/Royal Gorge LLC project. If you don't ask to be notified, the county will assume you have no interest in the project and therefore implicitly support the project. If you are not aware of the public comment periods or you do not voice any objections during the public comment period, you will not be able to object to any plans approved by the County at a later date. You must comment during the public comment periods. Please note- you do not need to own property in the affected area (all Serene Lakes property owners however are in the affected area) so if you have friends who are concerned with the Summit they too can send a letter.Naturally we encourage you to write letters in your own words, expressing your own concerns. But some people have asked for a sample letter to send. We offer the letter below. Be sure to put your return address/contact information and sign your letter.

Dear Ms Jacobsen:
I wish to express my deepest concern for the potential damage the proposed Royal Gorge LLC (Foster/Syme) development may wreak on Donner Summit.
I would like to be kept informed of all filings by the applicant, given notice of any public hearings concerning the development, be put on any mailing list for notices about the project, and be made aware of any protest opportunities available to me.
The applicant has already approached you and a project planning file has been opened. When available, I would like a copy of the completed pre-project planning check list.
And of course, I request hearings at the “Notice of Preparation” and “Draft EIR” stages of the project so that members of the public may comment.
Please confirm I have been placed on the list of people to be notified.
